When to process credits: semesters and limits

  2. Process while the course is active
  3. Credit limits
  4. One transcript or several

You can pay for your credits as you finish each course, or all at once after your last course. A few rules decide the timing.

Process in the semester you started

Complete the course and process its credits in the semester you started it. The semester you process in is the semester that appears on your transcript. Each university's semester dates are on the semester term dates page (opens in a new tab).

Process while the course is active

Your course must still be active, within its one year, when you process. If a credit course expired before you paid, contact us and our team will help.

Credit limits

  • Each university accepts up to 15 credits per semester. This limit is firm. If you need more than that in one semester, contact us before you enroll, and we'll help you move courses to another university partner.
  • Aim for no more than 3 credits a week. Universities expect real time on task for semester credits, so we strongly recommend keeping to this pace.
  • Check how many credits your district or state accepts in one semester.

One transcript or several

Each university issues its own transcript. To have all your courses on one transcript, take them through the same university, and wait to order your transcript until all of your credits are processed.

Already sent a transcript and added more courses later? Pay only for the new credits. After they process, order a new transcript; it lists every course you've taken through that university.
