Illinois: ISBE clock hours through NEIU

Illinois requires an in-state partner for teacher clock hours, which is why we work with Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU). NEIU is an approved ISBE provider and issues a signed ISBE certificate for each NEIU course. NEIU courses give ISBE clock hours only, not academic credit or a transcript.

After you finish an NEIU course

1. Submit the NEIU certificate request form (opens in a new tab) for each course. The link is also on your Model Teaching completion certificate.
2. NEIU emails you your certificate within a week of receiving your request.
3. Log your hours in ELIS (opens in a new tab) within 60 days of finishing the course. Model Teaching and NEIU don't log hours for you.

Converting PD hours you already earned

Completed Model Teaching PD hours can convert to ISBE clock hours, 15 PD hours for 15 ISBE hours, for a university fee of $25 per 15 ISBE hours. Follow the steps and use the tracker on the NEIU conversion page (opens in a new tab), then email your completed MT-NEIU tracker to courses@modelteaching.com. Our team assigns your NEIU course titles, then you pay and your record goes to NEIU.
